Egyptus touristicus

Avenir Light est une police épurée et élégante et appréciée des designers. Agréable à regarder, elle s'adapte parfaitement aux titres et paragraphes.

Eternal, immutable Egypt; place of origin of Western civilization, has since the dawn of photography attracted within it the photographer.

Who does not remember the sublime and disturbing photographs that Maxime Du Camp, Teynard, Salzmann or Lorent brought to us from this region.

Who has not dreamed of this country during its history lessons?

The pharaohs, the pyramids, the tombs, the Sphinx to each of these names we associate a personal image.

Egypt, currently accessible to many thanks to mass tourism, still today offers the photographer an exceptional hunting ground.

Wanting to leave the classic and archaeological paths during my second trip to this country; I voluntarily limited myself at the technical level to a non-reflex 24x36, a 35mm lens and color slide films.

This technical constraint allowed me to apprehend another vision of this bewitching and enchanting country, a vision in homage to Martin Parr and which without wanting to be derogatory for the tourists that we are all, approaches with a certain humor the shock of the two civilizations ; that of ancient Egypt and that of modern tourism.

This series allowed me to win in 2004 the Author's Grand Prix of the Photographic Federation of France.
